SS Manga - PROLOGUE

They were all running together. He and all the other boys in his class, each one heading to their respective homes.

"Wow," one of one of the children cried, "Link, look at that!"

Link turned his head to the boy who just spoke. He had a hand pointing to an arbitrary place in the sky. Curious, Link glanced along the finger's path to see a red speck flying by the setting sun.

A red bird… he thought. A Loftwing is flying up there. Link slowly came to a stop, letting his friends run ahead. Not only was it strange to see a Loftwing without a rider - let alone a red one - but he felt almost entranced by this bird in particular. To have the freedom to soar in that big sky… It must be nice. Standing on the now desolate hillside, he glanced despondently at the ground. But, I can't go to that sky.

Determined, Link shook the sensation off and ran to rejoin his classmates. He allowed himself a small smile, but the red Loftwing was still at the back of his mind. Why do I get this feeling when I look at those birds, he asked himself. Sort of a nostalgic, sad feeling….

Beneath the city of Skyloft where young Link now stands, beyond thick clouds, was a land where people lived on the ground. That land had been called the realm of Hylia. However, that world had been in an era of darkness, shrouded by betrayal and fear.
